Biography

Bryce has received many awards for his outstanding musicianship. Including: The University of Mary in 2010 and 2011, the University of Minnesota Morris in 2009, Augustana University in 2011, The University Of South Dakota in 2011 and at South Dakota State University in 2010 and 2011 all for Jazz Festivals. He has also received best soloist awards at Northern State University and South Dakota State University in 2010 and South Dakota State University in 2011 for his jazz drumming. In 2011, Bryce received the best rhythm section player at the University Of Mary, which is the only award of its kind given out at the event. Also in 2011, was awarded a Jazz Improvisation award at the University Of Mary.

He was one of two drummers to perform with a Trumpet Combo at the International Trumpet Guild in 2011.

Bryce was apart of the 2012 Multimedia performance of “Ask Your Mama: 12 Moods Of Jazz,” by Langston Hughes. It took place on the SDSU Campus and was performed to 400+ attendants. He played alongside with LA musician and composer Ron McCurdy. He was later featured in the SDSU newspaper for his performance.

Bryce has played with and for great musicians such as:

Trombonist Tony Baker from North Texas University and The Dallas Orchestra, three time Grammy Winner Jeff Coffin from Bela Fleck And The Flecktones and The Dave Matthews Band, trumpet player Rashawn Ross of The Dave Matthews Band, James McKinney from SDSU and co-founder of the New Ensemble for Clarinet and Percussion (NECAP), Grant Manhart, former Trumpet player for The Buddy Rich Big Band, John Von Ohlen, Louis Bellson, and Ed Shaughnessy and current director at NSU, Dennis McDermott, director at NSU and former member of the Air Force “Noteables” and well known jazz Trumpet player, Doug Rezac a local studio and touring drummer, Ron Parker former touring pianist for Aretha Franklin, Victor Lewis who has performed with many top artists including Woody Shaw, Carla Bley, Kenny Barron, David Sanborn, Dexter Gordon, and Stan Getz. Bassist Erik Applegate who has appeared with jazz
artists including the Bob Mintzer Big Band, Nnenna Freelon, Milt Jackson, and Jeff Coffin to name a few.

Bryce has toured with the following groups:

Static Line, The Trophy Wife, Amberallalone, Destroy Embrace, Take The Fall, myheartYourhome, Beyond The Mountains, Wind Up Radio, To The Steadfast, Crash Landing, On The Rocks, The Dominant 7, The Gold Star Band, Kayla Tingle, Souldrive, Briley Pkwy and Stay Gold.

He has shared the stage with bands such as:
